"Go Buy A Gallon Of Milk"

A young man had been to prayer meeting one night. The pastor had talked about obedience. He spoke of how we have to listen to God’s voice and obey. After the prayer meeting the young man went out with a group of his peers for coffee and pie, where they talked some more about the pastor’s message. After this young man left the coffee shop to return home, he felt the Lord impress his heart to go buy a gallon of milk. He thought, "I don’t need any milk." But the Lord spoke to him and said, "Go buy a gallon milk." He went and bought a gallon of milk. He said, "I don't know what it’s for, but I’ll buy it and keep it - perhaps I'll need it myself."

As he was driving home, he passed Seventh Street. And God said, "Turn here." He said, "Lord, I don’t know anyone down Seventh Street." It was an old dilapidated area, there were old homes and apartments there, it was an area of half business and it was dark. God said, "Turn down Seventh Street." So the young man turned at the next block and came back to Seventh. He drove a little bit, and for some reason he stopped. The Lord said, "Look at that house across the street." By now it was nearly 10:00. The house was dark. The Lord said, "Take the milk to that house." The man said, "Lord it would be ridiculous if I walk up to that door and knock and say, 'God told me to bring you some milk.' The people are in bed, they may be asleep. I'll make a fool of myself." The Lord said, "Take the milk to that house."

So the young man walked up the steps, knocked on the door, and after a few minutes and several knocks a man came to the door. "What do you want?!" The young man said, "Here is some milk. The Lord sent me with milk." The man grabbed the milk, ran back in the hall, went into a room, evidently gave it to his wife, and ran back out to the door. He said, "You’re not going to believe this, but I was just in my room on my knees. Our bills were high this month and we had no money left for food. My baby was crying and hungry, and I’ve been praying for some way to feed my baby." The mother came walking out with a little baby in her arms and went into the kitchen to warm up some milk. As she passed by she said to the m an at the door, "You must be an angel."

The young man said, "No, I’m not an angel. I’m just a Christian trying to listen to God and obey Him."
