People | Something about seeing a video
of Rich Mullins play the hammer dulcimer out in the
streets of Columbia amongst a large group of kids has
inspired me to use my own talents and tools to leave a
legacy of my own behind. Rich Mullins was this awesome
Christian musician and singer. Some people may not think
he was the most talented or the best-sounding musician
there ever was--although I do think so--but
either way he was awesome not because of his
soul-stirring music or his entertainingly funny stories,
but because of his faith. In the end, that's the
legacy that Rich Mullins left behind. His music lives on
forever in his CDs and DVDs, yes, but it's his faith that
is everlasting and so impressionable. Fifty years from
now, when I am 75, I may or may not remember all the
words to the song Creed. But I will always and
forever remember the love of God I saw in Rich Mullins'
eyes in his videos, and the sound of total reverance in
his voice when he whispered softly "God is an awesome
God", and the sincere smiles he gave each and every
child whose path he crossed. And all of that came of his faith.
His music, of course, is what led me and many other fans
of his to him. But once we got to him, and paid attention
to him, all we saw was his faith. Incredible faith. Very
few people in this world today have that much faith,
although all people are capable of it. Rich made that
kind of faith seem more obtainable. God tells us in His
Word that we all are capable of mountain-moving faith,
but sometimes it takes actually seeing someone here on
earth achieving that kind of incredible faith to inspire
the rest of us.
I am creating this website because God has sent me to do it. I need it for myself, but I pray that God uses it to encourage and inspire others, as well. So far, this website is not so much of a collection of my own works as it is a collection of works of other Christians whom I have learned from. This could one day change as I mature into a more steadfast Christian. On the back of the DVD Rich Mullins: Pursuit of a Legacy, "Liturgy" is defined as "our service of worship to the living Christ". In this small space of the World Wide Web, I attempt to bring myself and the readers of these pages into a Liturgy of our own. Page last updated on June 16, 2002. |
